Propelling a boat backward with locked long oars using slides is called" Rowing"
Centuries ago rowing was originated not as a sport,
but as a means of transport, it was also used in warfare.
The sport of "Canoe-Kayak" involves different types of boats propelled by single- or double-bladed paddles, with no fulcrum to the boat, in a number of disciplines. The paddlers are facing forward in the direction of traveling.
Kitesurfing or Kiteboarding is a surface water sport. A kitesurfer or kiteboarder uses a board with or without foot-straps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel the rider and the board across the water. The terms kitesurfing and kiteboarding are interchangeable.
Qatar Sailing & Rowing Federation (QSRF) was formed in May 2003. The main aim of the Federation was to ensure implementation of Olympic Charter and promotion of sports of Sailing, Rowing, Canoe-Kayak & Kiteboarding in the State of Qatar.
The QSRF receives an annual grant from Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). QOC is also responsible to provide funds for training of all athletes & the expenses of participation of Qatar National Teams at National and International Level.
The QSRF is controlled by an Executive Committee under the President ship of Mr. Khalifa Mohd Al Sewaidi. QSRF conduct its all activities from the platform of Doha Sailing Club (DSC).

Kiteboarding i. We are in process to establish Kiteboarding centers all over Qatar.
A new Sailing & Rowing School has been created. The Federation has full time Coaches and many part time coaches who take classes for the beginners. A very cordial atmosphere exists in the premises.
We organize regular National & International Events. Sail the Gulf, Sail Qatar and Match Racing are three major events which are conducted every year and attended with great enthusiasm by all International Sailors. In addition, occasionally we World level events in sailing.
The Federation believes in social activities. A number of functions, get together and social evenings are organized throughout the year.
